We are excited to announce that Palisades Federal Credit Union is preparing for a milestone in our service technology plan that will make your everyday financial life better. In May 2010 we will upgrade to a new, extremely powerful data processing system that will allow us to serve you faster and more efficiently, improve existing offerings to you, and present you with new products and services you’ve been asking for!
Our employees are very excited about all the great features coming with this upgrade that will allow us to satisfy your growing financial needs. We know you’ll be pleased with the results!
Please continue checking our “System Upgrade” page regularly since it is our most timely communication tool providing a Frequently Asked Questions and Answer forum. Plus, watch your mailbox and inbox for ongoing important notifications. You can rely on us to keep you up to date with changes, and maintain our ongoing commitment to superior member service.
When will the upgrade take place?
The system upgrade will begin 4:00 pm, Friday April 30th and continue through Monday May 3rd.
Temporary disruption to member services
Please be aware of the following changes in our hours and operations and plan your financial transactions accordingly:
- Our offices and drive-up will be closed Saturday, May 1st through Monday, May 3rd
- Online Banking, Bill Pay, TAP (telephone banking) and Shared Branching will not be available from 3:00 pm Friday, April 30th through Monday May 3rd.
- Normal hours and operations will resume Tuesday, May 4th.
- You can continue to use your Debit Cards, Credit Cards and Personal Checks.
Here is some important information that will help you understand how this upgrade will affect you.
Overview Questions
Q: You may ask what is a system upgrade.
A: Palisades Federal Credit Union is upgrading from one computer system to another. This system stores our member information and handles the operations of the credit union.
Q: Why are we upgrading our system?
A: We are committed to providing you with the best member service possible.
Q: When will the credit union branches be closed for the system upgrade and when will they reopen?
A: All Palisades Federal Credit Union branches will be closed on Saturday May 1, 2010 through Monday, May 3, 2010. Branches will re-open for business on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at their normal hours; however our call center will be open to handle any questions. Please be advised that PFCU representatives will not have access to account information at this time.
Q: When will Palisades Federal Credit Union function as normal?
A: Palisades Federal Credit Union Branches, Call Center, Online (Home) Banking, Bill Pay, TAP (telephone banking), and ATMs will be reactivated for normal business on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
Q: Will the call center at Palisades Federal Credit Union be open at 845-602-4242 and 800-438-7415?
A: Yes, the call center will be available for general questions regarding the system upgrade. However, no business transactions can be conducted until 8:00am, Tuesday May 4, 2010.
Q: What will happen to the Palisades Federal Credit Union ATMs?
A: Palisades Federal Credit Union ATMs will be available only for withdrawals from 4:00 pm April 30, 2010 through Monday, May 3, 2010. Members will not be able to perform balance inquiries, transfers or deposits from 4:00 pm April 30, 2010 through Monday, May 3, 2010. ATMs will resume normal operations on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
Q: Are my accounts and personal information safe during the upgrade?
A: Absolutely. Security and privacy are top priorities for us. Palisades Federal Credit Union follows strict procedures to protect member information.
Q: The credit card program was recently changed. Will there be more changes?
A: Since we have recently changed our credit card program, it will not be affected by further changes. You will have access to your credit card account and information during the conversion.
Account Number, Paper Checks, VISA Debit Card & MasterCard credit card
Q: Will my member number change?
A: No
Q: Will my loan account numbers change?
A: No
Q: Do I need to order new checks?
A: No, you may continue to use your checks since our routing number and your account number will remain the same.
Q: Do I need to order a new Palisades Federal Credit Union VISA Debit card or MasterCard credit card
A: No
Telephone Banking (TAP) Questions
Q: Will telephone banking be available during the system upgrade?
A: No. Telephone banking known as TAP will be unavailable beginning 4pm, Friday April 30, 2010, through Monday May 3, 2010. Service will resume 12:01am on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
Q: Will the telephone number remain the same?
A: Yes
Q: Will telephone banking be different?
A: Yes, the menu will change.
Q: Will I need to change my PIN number?
A: Yes, the first time you use TAP after the conversion, you will need to change your PIN number. Your temporary PIN number will be the last four digits of the primary account holder’s social security number. Once you have entered this four digit number for the first time, you will be prompted to create a new PIN number.
Online (Home) Banking Questions
Q: How will Online Banking be affected during the system upgrade?
A: Online Banking, also known as Home Banking, will be unavailable beginning 3pm, Friday, April 30, 2010 through Monday, May 3, 2010. Service will resume at 12:01am on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Enrollment for new Online Banking accounts will cease on Thursday April 15, 2010. The credit union will resume accepting new enrollees on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
Q: Since Online Banking is being impacted by the system upgrade what will be the impact to the Bill Pay service?
A: Bill Pay will be unavailable beginning at 3pm, Friday, April 30, 2010. You will not have access to view, add, delete or modify any payments. Service will resume at 12:01am on Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Any payments scheduled for payment after 3pm, Friday, April 30, 2010 through Monday, May 3, 2010, will not be processed until Tuesday, May 4, 2010. Enrollment for new bill pay service will cease on Thursday April 15, 2010. The credit union will resume accepting new bill pay accounts on Tuesday, May 4, 2010.
Q: What will happen to my user name?
A:Your user name will change if; the first two characters of your Logon ID are not alpha. (Begin with a, b, c, d, etc) and/or your Logon ID exceeds 12 characters.
- If your current Logon ID meets the above criteria, YOUR Login ID WILL CHANGE. In order to log on to the new Home Banking site May 4, 2010, your new Logon ID will be
- cu + your current Logon ID.
For example, if your current Logon ID is 8675309, on May 4, your new log on ID will be cu8675309.
- If your current Login ID begins with the first two characters as an alpha character (a,b,c,d) and is 12 characters or less, Your Logon ID WILL NOT CHANGE.
- If your current log on id is greater than 12 characters, you will be contacted by PFCU in the coming weeks by telephone and email.
Q: What will happen to my password?
A: Your password will need to be changed the first time you log on. Your temporary password will be your FULL social security number. Once you have entered this number in for the first time, you will be prompted to create a new password.
Q: Will the system upgrade affect Multi-Factor Authentication?
A: Yes. When you log on for the first time you will be prompted to choose a personal identification picture. That picture will appear every time you log on to ensure member security.
Q: Will I be able to view my account history after the system upgrades?
A: Yes, you will be able to see your history for the past 90 days.
Bill Pay Questions:
Q: Do I need to re-enter any of my Bill Pay merchant information after the system upgrade?
A: No
Q: Will my payments take longer to deliver after the system upgrade?
A: No
Direct Deposit, Automatic Payments and Transfer Questions
Q: Will my direct deposit or automatic payments continue to post after the system upgrade?
A: Direct deposits (including payroll deposits, Social Security, and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits or other regular deposits) and existing automatic payments to or from any of your Palisades Federal Credit Union account will not be affected by the system upgrade and will continue to be processed as usual. You do not need to contact any businesses that withdraw or deposit funds from or into your Palisades Federal Credit Union account.
Q: Will my automatic transfers between my Palisades Federal Credit Union accounts continue to post after the system upgrade?
A: Automatic transfers between your respective Palisades Federal Credit Union accounts (e.g. checking to savings) will continue to post as they did prior to the system upgrade.
Statement Questions
Q: Will the system upgrade affect my Account Statement?
A: Yes, your statement will have a different, more dynamic look.
Q: Will I continue to receive e-Statements?
A: Yes. If you have already signed-up, you will continue to receive your statements electronically without interruption.
Q: Will I be able to view past e-Statements after the system upgrades?
A: Yes
General Questions
Q: Will dividend payments be affected by the system upgrade?
A: No
Q: Will my Certificate Accounts, Vacation Club or Special Account be affected?
A: No. These accounts will continue at their current rates and there will be no change to their maturity dates.
Q: Will my Holiday Account be affected?
A: Yes. Your current rate and maturity will remain the same. However, because your Holiday Account accrues dividends throughout the year and your dividends is posted annually, all accrued dividends up to April 30, 2010 will be posted to your account and appear on your April 2010 statement. Then beginning May 1, 2010, your dividends will again begin accruing on the new upgraded system and be posted as normal. All terms and conditions that apply to this account will remain the same.
Q: Will my loans with the credit union be affected?
A: No. Everything will remain the same after the upgrade: interest rate, terms and the payment due dates.
Your Role in the Conversion and How You Can Prepare
• Remember last minute bill payments – Online (Home) Banking services will be interrupted during the conversion. If you pay your bills electronically, it is suggested that you make payments in advance of the conversion weekend.
• Complete special in-branch transactions – Any special in-branch services or transactions such as travelers cheques, money orders, wire transfers,foreign currency, and bank drafts should be completed prior to 4:00 pm on Friday, April 30th.
We ask for your patience and cooperation. We have spent months preparing and testing to make the transition as smooth as possible. While our intent is to continue to provide the same level of service you have come to expect, please understand if our call volume is higher and transactional times are slightly longer as we become accustomed to the new system.
