Unlock the Convenience of Remote Deposit Capture: Tips for Safe and Effective Use

At Palisades Credit Union, we’re proud to offer Remote Deposit Capture (RDC) as a convenient way to deposit checks using your smartphone or tablet. It’s fast, secure, and easy—but understanding how to use it safely ensures a smooth experience. Follow these best practices to make the most of RDC.

How to Use Remote Deposit Capture

  1. Download Our Mobile App
Make sure you’re using the official app from Palisades Credit Union, available on the Apple App Store or Google Play. Keep the app updated to benefit from the latest security features.
  2. Endorse Your Check Correctly
Always sign the back of the check and include the phrase “For Mobile Deposit Only at Palisades Credit Union.” This ensures the check can’t be deposited elsewhere.
  3. Capture Clear Photos
  • Place the check on a flat, well-lit surface.
  • Align the check with the guides in the app.
  • Ensure all corners are visible, and the information is clear.
  1. Verify the Details
Double-check the deposit amount and account number before submitting. Mistakes can delay processing.

  2. Retain the Check Safely
After depositing, hold onto the check for 14 days in a secure location. Once confirmed, shred the check to protect your information.

Safety Tips for RDC Users

  1. Use Secure Internet Connections
Avoid using public Wi-Fi when depositing checks. Opt for a private, password-protected connection instead.
  2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication
Add an extra layer of security by enabling two-factor authentication in our mobile app.
  3. Monitor Your Accounts Regularly
Check your account statements and transaction history to ensure all deposits and activities are accurate.
  4. Beware of Scams
Never deposit checks from unknown sources, especially if asked to wire funds back. These could be fraudulent.
  5. Log Out After Use
Always log out of the app when finished, especially if using a shared or borrowed device.
